Subnetting

    In this section, we are expected to show the calculation on how to identify the IP address that was assigned for the ULearn System Server based on the information given in the project scenario and explain the concept and show the calculation to identify the IP address.

Answer:

    For subnetting for the IP address, we decided to assign to IPv4 class C. Private network is chosen as to not interfering with other networks and suitable for security purpose. So we decided to assign this addressing 192.168.0.0/16.

    As we assume that there are 25 departments in UTeM and all departments have the same amount of computers, we need to create enough subnet. So we take the magic number which is higher than 25, which is 32. Then, the netmask for subnet will be /21

    And since each department will get their own subnet assigned. According to the scenario, we will assign a subnet to the ICT Center and give the ULearn System server an address. We choose the second subnet to assign to the ICT center and assign the second IP address to the Ulearn System Server. 

Thus, the IP address for Ulearn System Server that we assigned is 192.168.8.2/21
